Replacement drive: preparing a technical request
A replacement-drive request should explain both what is installed and what the process needs. Record the existing configuration before comparing alternatives. This helps separate a like-for-like replacement from a retrofit that also changes wiring, software or mechanical installation.
Identification
Photograph the complete drive nameplate and record its type code, ordering number and serial number. Include labels from option cards or spare parts when relevant. Do not shorten the code to the model family or power rating.
Application
State the driven machine, motor voltage/current, operating cycle and any braking or feedback requirements. Describe the symptom or objective without assuming that a fault message identifies the failed component. Preserve the fault history for technical review.
Interfaces and dimensions
List the fieldbus, control signals, encoder interface, enclosure and available mounting space. Attach the wiring diagram and parameter backup if available. Compare terminals and communication settings explicitly; physical similarity is not a compatibility check.
Scope of supply
Ask the quotation to identify the exact code, included options, required accessories and commissioning work. Confirm stock, lead time and documentation separately. Where an alternative is proposed, request a clear list of differences that affect the installation.
Acceptance
Agree how the installed system will be checked: motor data, control commands, feedback, operating limits and fault response. Keep the final configuration and test record with the equipment documentation for future service.
